Bangalore to Ooty  A Perfect Road Trip

Introduction

Ooty has a perfect mix of everything you would anticipate from a great vacation destination – great climatic conditions, unlimited natural beauty, good resorts and hospices, and of course, lots of places to visit. From the notorious Rose Garden and the Nilgiri Mountain Railroads to Pykara Lake and Echo Rock, this antique little city offers numerous memorable guests. But what got us agitated was the veritable prospect of traveling by road soaking in all the beautiful vistas en route, harkening to the murmur of pine trees, and enjoying the sight of noway-ending tea estates.

Ooty, also called Udhagamandalam, needs no preface, especially if you’re from the southern part of the country. This beautiful hill station in Tamil Nadu is a place every avaricious rubberneck visits at least formerly their life. This was my alternate trip to Ooty while my trip companions have been there more times than they can count. Yet, the place has an inarguable charm that keeps people going back, again and again, which has earned Ooty a place in the list of must-have-visit hill stations near Bangalore.

A Route from Bangalore to Ooty

Deciding on the route was the most delicate part because there are three different routes one can take from Bangalore to Ooty tour by car – the Mysore- Masinagudi route, the Kanakapura- Kollegal route, and the Salem- Coonoor Route. Each of these routes has its advantages, in terms of distance and layovers. later much conversation and schoolwork, we took the first route, videlicet the Mysore- Masinagudi route. Bangalore to Ooty

Route Bangalore

Mandya to Mysore to Nanjangudu to Gundlupet to Bandipur to Mudhumalai( Theppakadu) – Masinagudi to Ooty

 Distance 280 km( approx.)

Trip Time 6 – 7 hours( approx.) without layovers. You can choose to cover this distance in two days, spending the night at one of the layovers and that’s what our plan was.

Advantages We chose this route for our Ooty trip from Bangalore because we were planning to explore some of the layovers on the way, similar to Mysore, Nanjangud, Bandipur National Park, Mudumalai, and Masinagudi. Also, this is the perfect circuit for those who love driving through different geographies, from the business-ridden roads in Bangalore and the state-of-the-art public roadways to the long stretches of jungle and thrilling bends. As brassbound trippers and educated motorists, we were over for that challenge. The other routes also have some intriguing layovers and advantages.
