Kodachadri Trek -Things You Need to Know

Introduction

Kodachadri trek is a high point in the Shimoga district of Karnataka. This peak is the tenth highest in Karnataka, rising 1300 feet above sea level. Kodachadri is 20 km from Kollur, which is notable for its Mookambika temple. We can take a Jeep tour to Kodachadri from Kollur for around Rs 3,000. The ride provides an amazing and exciting experience on the road. The sunrises and sunsets are spectacular from this side. Because Kodachadri is located in the heart of the Mookambika Wildlife Sanctuary, it is a great weekend destination. 

You can explore the area and enjoy its beauty. The best months for travelling to Kodachadri are between September and February. The road is about 15 kilometres long. The weather will be cooler from September to January, with less cloud cover and more sunshine. It is easy to reach there by jeep. During these months, it is good to start travelling. This trip has a lot to offer. Bring two litres of water for each person if you are comfortable.

Mookambika Temple

The beautiful hills and forests of Kodachadri Trek are a paradise for nature lovers. Shivamogga is the starting point of this trek and it goes to Kodachadri Hill. Clouds cover it at night. This trip is ideal for those who want to explore beautiful places in the forest. As you travel through the steep slopes of the mountains, you can see a variety of wild animals.

Hidlumane Waterfall  

Kodachadri Hill is one of the main roads leading to Hidlumane Waterfall. The trail takes you through forests, hills, rivers, and streams. One of the highlights of the trip is the beautiful sunrise you can witness while climbing Kodachadri. Although the journey is not physically difficult, the rainy season can make it dangerous.

Hidlumane watershed is a collection of six watersheds in Karnataka’s Shimoga district. We can reach the waterfall by taxi or bus from Mangalore Airport. There are many lodging and motel options in the area. If you want to go a little further, you can rent a car in Mangalore. Car rental fees are around Rs. 1,800 (one way).

Green Mountain 

Kodachadri Trek is famous for its breathtaking views of vegetation. Green grass has covered this mountain. The hills are 5,735 feet above sea level, and the lush grasslands and open Shola are a must-see on a trip to Kodachadri. Green comes in many shades, from parakeet green to pine green to emerald green. The beauty and happiness of the combination of mist and fog is a fascinating experience that adds to the green.

  • Leeches fly through the forest. The trip requires safety shoes and long pants.
  • The deep forests are home to a variety of dangerous snakes, including the king cobra. Sneakers are preferred over high-heeled shoes.
  • The tools available in this way are small. It is recommended that the hiker bring enough water, snacks, and food.
  • The road passes through a wildlife sanctuary. It is recommended that pedestrians avoid damaging the road and keep noise to a minimum.
  • This trip requires the use of flashlights and insect repellent.
